Horse Church TV

Here is this morning's "TV." Breakfast in the barn on a Sunday morning, awesome. Happy Horse Church Sunday!

After breakfast, I will feed the horses. Then, horsey play time, stall cleaning (including washing walls and dusting), horse videos, and anything else I can think of starting with the word, horse.

What do you do anyway?

People often ask what we do here at Natural Horse Lover Farm. I often struggle to explain it all because we are a very non-traditional horse farm and we are also way more than a horse farm as we have many services and classes for non-horse people. But, we are known by our name and have no plan to change it!

Our mission is to  provide comprehensive knowledge resources, events, and services to support the holistic care and education of people and animals. We are dedicated to offering collaborative support for exploration, discovery, and life-long learning skills to all people interested in a natural path for themselves and for animals.

This includes but is not limited to classes, workshops, lessons, and healing sessions on many subjects such as multiple topics and disciplines with horses, Reiki, crystal therapy, essential oils, red-light therapy, and much more!

Check out our website and contact me for help today!

I am a tree-hugger horse person

I read this good article on Facebook first and my response to it is below.

A Natural Trim on Your Barefoot Horse. Is Best Done by You

http://www.soulfulequine.com/natural-trim-your-barefoot-horse/

I guess I am one of those tree-hugger horse people and am proud of it! I have been trimming my barefoot horses for many years and with no regrets.

My horses have never been lame, never have abscesses, and frankly, have never had any other issues related to the hoof that many horses unfortunately experience. When needed, I have used hoof boots; I prefer Old Macs.

My practice and principles have extended to all ages and several breeds too, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Quarter Horses, Mini horses....you get the idea. It offers my horses great care, gives us time together, helps build our relationship, and much more. It is not just a trim but an experience that impacts them in many levels.

Yeah, at Natural Horse Lover Farm, we live outside the box and color outside the lines, with principles and purpose, we have fun and enjoy ourselves daily. I used to live the traditional way and practiced everything horse the way everyone else did but no longer and I have never looked back.

Everything I do with horses now has a reason behind it, is natural (to the best of my ability), keeps the horses dignity, spirit, and health intact, principles before goals always, and thankfully, we are living happily ever after in our fairytale life. ❤️

Book Your Reiki Classes and Treatments Now!

I am Michelle Young, and am a Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master Teacher. I own Natural Horse Lover Farm in North Lawrence, NY with a focus on holistic care and education for people and animals.

Reiki is a Japanese technique using gentle hands-on healing method with hands gently on or slightly over the body. Reiki is the channeling of Universal Energy for the purposes of healing. It is safe, effective, and beneficial for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs and can be used for any issue you or your animals may have. It is not a religion nor is it a replacement for medical or
veterinary care.

Regarding the Reiki offerings (as I offer many other modalities and services), I offer Reiki classes levels 1, 2, and 3 as well as mentoring programs for all levels. My classes are taught with a people and animals focus, structured akin to a college class including a textbook, lecture, hands on work, a class website with additional resources, and homework! I also give Reiki treatment sessions in person as well as distance treatments for people and animals. I am willing to offers place as a location for Reiki Shares too should this group want to get together in person.

Meditate with your animals!

From Meditation Techniques on Facebook, "A fan asked what constituted "meditation"...was it really just focusing on your breath?"

Their answer:
"The main purpose of meditation is to quiet the mind so that you can reconnect with your inner self.  What or how you find is the best way for you to make that connection - is a form of meditation.  It is suggested that you simply start with NOTICING your breathing.  We rush around each day and never even notice how consistently and beautifully our breath is there for us - sustaining us.  It is a meaningful way to also connect with your life force...since it is this life force that is also what makes us who we are.  I hope that this helps in answering your question!  My best to you.
Now, breathe..."

Now here is my addition to this wonderful response:

This is a great explanation of meditation. To add to it, when meditating with your horse, dog, or other pet, you will also notice their breath and the patterns of your entities will come together, in unison. You will begin to breathe together, to relax together, to become one. Try it, it is wonderful, and it should be part of your ritual.

If you have no idea how to start, please contact me. I can work with you and your animals to achieve this new skill and sense of consciousness.

Doggies are clean!

The doggies just got a bath. No fleas or ticks and I am not surprised. Our success is that we don't use chemical treatments but do use essential oils and quite sparingly too! Want to learn more? Please consider requesting a class (online or in person) or a hands on workshop! We don't sell oils but rather work to educate you about them!

Snow is on the way

In preparation for Saturday's forecast of snow, and as a TBT attempt, here are my sweet horses enjoying a blizzard. They had free access to the Quonset hut but preferred being outside that day. As I recall, it was not that cold but just rather snowy. Silly horses.

Any horse time is time well spent

Left to Right: Whiskey, Fosse, Lola

My time at the barn tonight was spent cleaning an ugly bite wound on Whiskey (thanks to Lola), and grooming out his fairy knots. The bite is not the first and won't be the last as he is the lowest horse in the herd. I have seen a chicken boss him around! This horse also has a gorgeous black mane that loves to twist. Then, back to the house. My barn time is limited at the moment due to pneumonia (which meant I also had to wear a mask while in the barn).

No matter if I have five minutes or five hours, horse time always makes me feel great. My body and soul feel balanced, happy, and perfectly aligned with the universe. I know that I connect with them on a different level than most people recognize and the experience is always genuine and unique.

The next time you are with your horses, pause and experience the moment, connect with it, hear and listen to the sounds, smells, feelings, and energy sensations. You won't regret it! Then, take time to process everything. Each time you engage, the experience and your relationship will be that much more gratifying.

What makes us different and why you should spend time here.

What makes us different at Natural Horse Lover Farm and why should you spend time here?

http://naturalhorseloverfarm.com

Here are my top 5 thoughts of the day.

1. We listen and cater to the individual needs of our clients. Although we offer a menu of options, we often create new items upon request. We offer a non-judgmental and safe environment for learning, growth, healing, and change.

2. We are a quiet, private facility, catering to individuals, not the masses.  People come by appointment or by registering for an event. We do not have a constant stream of traffic.

3. Our facilities were developed with detail in mind, are top quality, comfortable, safe, inviting, and like a second home to our clientele.  We are not in a strip mall, sterile office or a storefront on a main road. We are not a busy boarding/show barn.

4. We love animals and people very much.  Therefore, we have offerings for both. We are way more than horses.  We help horses, dogs & other animals as well as people! We just happen to have a horse farm name. :)

5. We offer an alternative to the norm and think outside the box. Whether your interest is in horsemanship, holistic healing, or just learning how to have fun, we have it all and want to help. Give us a try and you'll surely want to spend more time here!

Awesomeness Happening!

Another awesome holistic healing session with a client this evening. I really love this work and seeing positive results.  It is very difficult to explain the transformation that occurs on those you are working on but even more difficult to describe the change that occurs on the practitioner. I am humbled by all who trust in the process.

Communication is Responsibility

Today, there is a post going around Facebook from a horse clinician that says, "I am responsible for what I say. However, not what you understood." I bring this up because I believe many of you will see and read that statement.

I have to disagree with it.

We are responsible to ensure that what we say provides a clear understanding of the meaning of the message. Interpretation of said message is perhaps where a miscommunication will occur.

All too often people make statements, are not thorough in their thoughts or delivery, (among other things) and wonder why people (or animals) misconstrue the meaning, intent, and/or the desired reaction.

As a professional in higher education, I see all too often that communication is the one thing people need to continually work on, individually and in groups. It is a never ending process and something that should be continually improved.

Communication and relationships go hand in hand. Let's not dismiss the important and vital responsibilities of all parties involved. (And, if you want to learn how to be a better communicator towards people and/or animals, let me know. I would love to help.)

Lest we forget the fallen

Like all sports, there is a joyous side full of adrenaline and excitement. Obviously American Pharoah, the Triple Crown Winner is an amazing athlete and I am pleased for him and his human counterparts. Just remember , there is an ugly side too. Lest we forget those who perish for no fault of their own. Read this article to learn more about the sad side of racing.

Clean horses!

I am exhausted!! But, I finally was home long enough to enjoy the horses today. We really needed it too. (No work travel again for a bit anyway. Three weeks (6 trips) being gone and back only briefly for a day or so in between took a toll on me. )

They all were extensively groomed, bathed, Whiskey had his hooves trimmed, etc. I really love how our horse facility is coming together. The wash rack worked very well (although the baths were still done in the driveway). Thanks to Debra Bootie for being a great help, especially dealing with the fairy knots in Whiskey's mane!

Our horsemanship confidence workshop scheduled for this weekend was cancelled but we plan to offer it again in September. And, we are hosting another equine first aid class in Oct. Stay tuned!

Free Range, Farm Fresh, Local Eggs for Sale

We have a three-step inspection process, each egg is hand washed and dried, without using any chemicals. Our eggs are collected Mon-Sun, inspected, washed, packed, and labeled Sunday night, delivered Monday. (Unless you stop out at the farm, then I take care of it all on demand.)

We sell them very quickly so don't hesitate to reserve yours today. Pick up in North Lawrence or Potsdam if you want some! $6.75/dozen and a half - $4.50/doz - $2.25/half dozen.

Contact us to reserve yours today!

With the bird flu in the news, I wanted to assure you that our birds are fine. We always push for people to buy locally and ban commercial big-agricultural animal farming, period. The animals suffer in many, many ways, unnecessarily. And, don't be fooled. Eggs in stores that are called free range is simply a twist of truth. Those chickens may not in cages but are overcrowded and never see the sunshine, grass, raindrops, or anything but filthy barns and too many neighbors.Local, free range chickens typically enjoy a good, healthy existence. My coops are not artificially lit up in the winter to keep production going either, the hens get a natural and much needed break. The hens live a happy life with all the necessities for good health and yummy eggs. They enjoy the sunshine, the rain, feel the breeze, fresh food and water, grass, weeds, etc. The eggs you are getting are very fresh. And, please know that if there is ever a problem with them, they are 100% guaranteed, always.

Memorial Day - Sergeant Reckless

This was posted on Facebook by Integrity Horse Feed..

Sergeant Reckless was a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. For 9 months, she was a member of the Recoilless Rifle Platoon, Anti-Tank Company, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. She carried supplies and ammunition, and aided in evacuating the wounded. She was such an intelligent mare that she learned how to navigate supply routes on her own, and is famed for making 51 solo trips, covering over 35 miles, to resupply the front lines in a single day! After the war she was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and was promoted to staff sergeant in 1959 by the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

Hello? Yeah, I am here.

I want to write and tell you that the horses and I are performing amazing feats, I want to tell you about all kinds of adventures, new goals, etc. But I cannot. Work has been crazy busy, we are working on farm projects making tons of new spaces and improving others, and thus, horse time is at an all time low. In theory, this sacrifice is worth it but it surely is distressing too. The farm? Looking magnificent and yes, we are still taking appointments but those fill up quickly so don't delay! Let me know how I can help you!

From my website: http://www.naturalhorseloverfarm.com

Natural Horse Lover Farm has been developed to offer a beautiful country setting on 40 acres in Northern New York (just south of  the Canadian border) between the St. Lawrence River and Adirondack Mountains. The farm's proximity allows for the comforts of rural life with the advantage of being able to explore and take advantage of opportunities in larger regions such as other places in New York, Vermont, and Canada.

This peaceful rural setting allows our guests to learn, grow, improve wellness, and create balance in their lives and the lives of their animals. We are here to help everyone and all creatures live a life with emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental balance. We offer a variety of educational and wellness opportunities for people and all animals (not just horses) including but not limited to: natural
horsemanship education, natural animal husbandry, horse psychology, coaching, discipline specific lessons, holistic health practices (such as but not limited to Reiki, photonic red-light therapy (needless accupuncture/accupressure), chromotherapy (color therapy), essential oils, aromatherapy, crystal healing, flower essences, chakra balancing, energetic space clearing, confidence building), equine first aid, horsemanship confidence building/fear make overs, goal and intention setting, and much, much more. Everything offered here can be applied to any horse-related discipline, animal situation, and a person's life in general. (By the way, we sell farm-fresh free range chicken eggs, hatching eggs, and occasionally, birds.)

We pride ourselves in being a private facility that has the ability to work intimately with our clientele. We are unlike large boarding/training facilities or sizeable wellness centers where distraction, competition, and constant client traffic, public on-lookers, and other interruptions can interfere with growth and wellness, learning, confidence, and success. Priding ourselves on the ability to offer a
safe, intimate environment, you'll find that Natural Horse Lover Farm is unique to our region and a place where one can truly learn and grow, find happiness, be healthy, and much more in a non-judgmental, open, and safe environment.

Join us and attain the happiness, harmony, balance, trust, and joy in your life and the lives of your animals.
