Good health starts in the head and goes all the way through your heels (or hooves). What I mean by this statement is that good health begins with emotional fitness but physical and nutritional fitness are also equally important. Imagine you and your horse trying to have a relationship and he cannot think, cannot connect. Now think about your own mind. Are you emotionally fit? Do you have what it takes to not take what your horse may do personally? Are you two healthy, mentally, together? The stress that can develop if you aren't can be toxic and anti-productive.
This week, take some time to evaluate your horse's nutrition, physical, and his emotional fitness, then review your own--it is not just about your horse but about YOU! Be honest, be thoughtful, and write this stuff down! The benefits will out weigh the work and a good dose of reality never hurt anyone. If anything, you will be closer to yourself and to you horse!
